What We See

Photography like any other art, holds beauty to certain eyes. I painted in watercolor for many, many years. Not for myself, but for art classes in high school and college. Really the only reason I took a watercolor class in college was due to the fact I couldn't get into the photography classes. I was so focused on getting all my classes I needed to graduate I forgot to enroll in classes I was passionate about or enjoyed. I had to take so many hours of electives, so what ultimately fit in my schedule and what wasn't full all ready ended up being dance (tap) and watercolor. So back to my point about watercolor. I don't really like it. I'm not bad at painting in this medium. I've accomplished some okay watercolor pieces, and yet I still don't like them. I've looked at famous pieces in museums and I'm still not draw to them. The transparency and the way the color bleeds is what I’m not found of. I like rich full colors. I enjoy the thickness in acrylics and oils. Regardless of my reasoning, it's okay that I don’t like it.

Photography is the same way. I have a constant need to grow and learn. I want to be better and I want to keep clients happy and coming back. I want to document my life in a way that truly captures the feeling when you look at an image of my babies. You may ultimately not like my style or my editing and that's okay. You may not like every picture. I know I don't like all my pictures. I find too many flaws. Ways to improve and make it better.

That takes me to my next point, critiquing images. I like to throw myself into an image and decide what I like, what I don’t like, what to change.  Mostly for myself to see how I can use that information.  There are places and classes you can take your images to have them critiqued. Facebook pages especially. I occasionally try this method. Not for pats on the back, but to really look for ways I could improve. Although it turns into people’s opinions and I find my self back to my first sentence. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

If you like what I do and we jive then lets work together. If not, then it’s okay no offense will be taken. Thank you for looking though.
